Job Description Summary:

Work with VD&C Manager & Assigned Project teams to create fabrication level mass timber modeling and shop drawing content for CNC and install.

Job Description:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assist with design development and contract drawing review for mass timber and other structural systems; manage resolution logs, RFIs, and other documentation during design development process.
  • Proactively track design and VDC deliverables for DD-type pursuits and scopes.
  • Use parametric modeling techniques (Autodesk Revit) – and assist VDC team with enhancements to create efficiencies in fabrication-level modeling – with respect to cost/schedule and mitigation of detailing/fabrication errors on current/future projects.
  • Lead and/or assist with shop drawing creation for submission to AE, internal team, fabrication team, and site team.
  • Heavy interaction with SMT team, A/E Team, suppliers, non-SMT trades and vendors. Documentation of all partner meetings and action items that result.
  • Be a strong advocate for ownership goals, architectural visual intent, and Swinerton fab/install.
  • High level of initiative in developing and refining SMT design/detailing standards. Trend-setter.
  • Assist SMT and VDC with developing internal and external marketing materials.
  • Thirst for knowledge and understanding of mass timber systems, design, and project approach.
  • MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Extensive knowledge of Autodesk Revit – project setup, and model interaction.
  • Structural detailing and/or mass timber-specific detailing background is a major plus.
  • Fundamental understanding of contract plans through all disciplines.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural details, steel vendor shop drawings, non-structural shop drawings, product data, etc.
  • CNC fabrication experience (detailing, operation, etc.) a plus.
