Position Summary

The successful candidate will lead McCarthy's team efforts to provide preconstruction services to our clients. Depending on the specifics of the project, may be the primary day-to-day contact of the owner and the design team with McCarthy during the preconstruction period. May operate as overall McCarthy cross-functional team lead in preconstruction phase of project. In that role, will manage communication and execution amongst Preconstruction, Operations, BD and senior management to ensure that McCarthy is operating as one, cohesive unit through the end of the preconstruction process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in interviews and preparation for negotiated bids, acting as "Bid Captain" on pursuits
  • Assist in the prequalification process, prepare qualifications that align with contractual requirements of the project, and submit contract documents for review, ensure adherence to requirements and submit contract documents for legal review
  • Represent McCarthy to internal clients, subcontractors/vendors, key stakeholders and the community by participating in design/coordination meetings and industry events
  • Oversee schedule coordination and budget control throughout course of entire project
  • Manage risk and assist in ensuring the development and safety of all employees through training, safety and EEO/Affirmative Action programs
  • Assist in development of creative alternative solutions for cost, scheduling, maintenance, etc. and in preparing responses to RPFs and RFQs
  • Present deliverables to project owner
  • Prepare and manage the Exhibit One production intro as well as the chart of accounts for the project

Skills & Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering, and/or 10+ years experience in estimating, design management and/or field management
  • Proven experience managing preconstruction for highly complex, large scale projects
  • In-depth knowledge of construction principles/practices required
  • Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work
  • Experience leading successful team ventures, including development of employees and maintaining relationships with external entities and subcontractor community
  • Self-starter with the ability to build trust and influence others
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values while maintaining a "value added" approach to preconstruction
  • Strong communication and presentation skills across varied audiences
