Position Overview

We will be holding open interviews at the following times at our 9020 S Sandy Pkwy. Sandy, UT 84070 address. Please come and interview with us!

Mondays 2-4pm

Tuesdays 8-10am

Summary

This position follows directions of carpenters to perform specific duties in the construction of walls and footings. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Installs ties, forms and hardware.
  2. Aligns, straightens, plumbs and squares forms.
  3. Measures, cuts and assists in installing keyways.
  4. Assists with footing construction.
  • Secures stakes to grids.
  • Nails scabs to footing forms.
  • Assists carpenter in raising forms to required elevation.
  • Consolidates concrete in forms.(shallow depths)
  • Floats concrete.
  1. Performs tie spacing layout; measures, marks and drills and/or cuts.
  2. Straightens, plumbs and squares wall forms.  Aligns to grid lines.
  3. Shoots grades on forms to required elevation.
  4. Vibrates and floats concrete (16' - 20').
  5. Maintains a clean and safe job site.
  • Stacks cut waste material into piles.
  • Installs handrails under the direction of carpenter.
  1. Helps install architectural finishes.
  • Helps install door frames.
  • Helps install doors and hardware
  • Helps install miscellaneous trim and finish items.
  1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Works diligently to perform in a safe manner according to Layton Construction guidelines.
  1. Performs essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safely with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing threat of harm to self or others.
  2. Handles very heavy work.
  • Exerts in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move object.
  • Ascends or descends ladders, scaffolding, steep slopes , and the like with agility. (Climb)
  • Maintains body equilibrium to prevent falling from precarious situations. (Balance)
  • Lowers the body to floor level and move about with agility. (Stoop or crawl)
  • Extends out and retrieves objects outside immediate range. (Reach)
  • Supports oneself and stays in an upright position. (Stand)
  • Presses against something with substantial steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward. (Push)
  • Exerts a considerable force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. (Pull)
  • Raises substantial objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. (Lift)
  • Maneuvers small objects precisely by whatever means. (Pinch or pick)
  • Seizes an object by applying considerable force. (Grip)
  • Detects attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, texture, tension or force by tactile means. (Feel)
  • Expresses or exchanges ideas by means of the spoken work. (Speak)
  • Perceives the nature of sounds with no less than a 40db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,00 Hz with or without correction. (Hear)
  • Is subject to substantial repetitive motions of the body or its parts.
  • Must have good depth perception, field of vision, near acuity.
  1. Applies common sense or logic to carry out detailed, involved instructions with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  2. Owns tools required of carpenter helper position.
  3. Has high school diploma or equivalent.
  4. Understands and conveys English commands, questions, and instructions on an eighth-grade level regarding concrete construction.
  5. Is at least 18 years of age.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently: Exposed to weather
  • Occasionally: Extreme cold, extreme heat, wet and/or humid, exposure to dust and fumes, and working in high exposed places.
  • Noise Intensity can be intense, necessary protection provided.
