SERVING THE LOS ANGELES, SANTA BARBARA AND SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREAS
AT MATT, WE TREAT EACH BUILDING AS OUR OWN
At MATT Construction, every team on every site takes a win-win approach to our work. That’s how we’ve become one of California’s top commercial general contractors. We match the owner’s intention and the architect’s vision to the best people for the job.
As general contractors, we’ve nurtured a deep pool of subcontractor relationships over decades. We conduct extensive evaluations and assess financial strength and safety records. Every crew represents a well-oiled collection of the right skill set and talent to see our clients’ visions come to life.
Partnering with MATT Construction means benefitting from decades of experience. Our talented leadership team has honed construction services for every phase of the process, from design to completion.
Construction services include design-build and integrated project delivery. Whichever delivery method you choose, everything starts with proactive preconstruction analysis. We focus on detail, innovation and cost control. We align project goals with vision. We take meticulous responsibility. We offer best-in-class preconstruction analytical and communication tools, including constructability reviews, BIM technology and physical mock-ups.
What makes our construction services superlative is a firm commitment to playing out every scenario and resolving conflicts as early as possible. Estimating and budgeting tools give us a broad view of each concept. Decades of successful project archives show us how similar jobs have played out in the past.
Being an in-demand California construction company also means getting to collaborate with some of the most exciting architects and companies in the world. We’ve partnered with Michael Maltzan on multiple phases of the Hammer Museum’s extensive renovations. We oversaw all of Rios Clementi Hale’s updates to the iconic Hollywood Bowl during the tight hiatus between seasons. Alongside Renzo Piano Building Workshop, we upgraded several large sections at LACMA and built the new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
We’ve been longtime collaborators with CO Architects on Caltech’s most innovative laboratories and testing grounds. We joined forces with Gehry Partners on the Disney Ice community skating center. All over California, we’ve tackled countless private estates, centers for higher education, hospitality destinations, office and creative spaces, data centers and cultural spaces.

The CoreSite SV4 Data Center project continued the development of an 11.6-acre, three parcel industrial block. It involved construction of a new two-story, Tier III data center, with infrastructure including below-grade electrical, communications and water lines, a 25,000-gallon diesel fuel tank serving eight primary generators providing up to 16 MW of electric power, and two secondary generators
The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, on the existing Beverly Hilton Hotel property, evokes classic Hollywood glamour informed by California’s Streamline Moderne style with meticulously executed interior architecture and decor designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon and an exterior of sweeping white stone curves, floor-to-ceiling glass and bronze accents.
Constructed atop a partly subterranean parking structure, the three-story, 112,800 sf museum provides approximately 50,000 sf of gallery space on two floors, sufficient to exhibit approximately 300 of The Broad’s 2,000-work collection at any one time.
The exterior design by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates transformed the Petersen building into one of the most significant and unforgettable structures in Los Angeles. Long ribbons of stainless steel wrap around three sides and over the top of the deep red structure, making a visceral statement that evokes the imagery of speed and the organic curves of a coach-built automobile.
